Hockey of Tomorrow Awards, SponsorshipX review and the effects of Snus in hockey

Your all-in-one innovation + positive impact + culture news in hockey.

Dear Hockey of Tomorrow reader,

I always start off by thanking the 11,923 and counting people in our newsletter community. I love getting your feedback and seeing the very high rate of engagement and readership.

It’s official: Hockey of Tomorrow will be evolving in its format.

We’ll keep publishing news and content about positive leadership and impact in the hockey world, however we’ll only be doing the following things moving forward:

  1. Team Building activities and seminars ( let us know if you’d like to host one)

  2. The Hockey of Tomorrow Awards: a celebration of all the various actors in the space trying to make the game better, whether it’s innovation, entrepreneurship, culture, social change or positive influence.

We’ll be announcing the categories, the nomination process, the judges, and some sponsors soon.

In the meantime, check out our new redesign here:

MUST READ

I was very fortunate to get invited to the Future of Sports Marketing SponsorshipX conference in conjunction with the NHL All Stars game. They seek to educate the sponsorship and marketing community on everything from trends to technology to brand building.

Check out my review of the event below, and why I 100% recommend anyone reading this newsletter to book tickets for next years edition.

One trend that has been picking up is smokeless Tobacco, called snus or most notably called “dip” or “chew” in the hockey locker rooms. Usage is through the roof, and hockey players are infamous users of the product: over 50% of all players at the World Hockey Championships a few years were reported by the doping agency to have tested positive for smokeless tobacco! Wowza.

Read about the risks and issues below.

If you’re a brand or organisation that would want to get involved with the Hockey of Tomorrow Awards, kindly email me back so we can set up a time to chat.

Thanks for your attention, as always.

That’s it for this edition of the Hockey of Tomorrow newsletter. As we continue to highlight the best, most diverse, and most interesting, off-ice hockey stories, let us know if there’s a way we can work together.
